Function at Hindko Academy on Aug 14.
PESHAWAR -- A literary, cultural and social welfare organization, Gandhara Hindko Board, will arrange a special function on August 14 (Sunday) to mark the Independence Day.
According to a press release, the programme will be held at the Gandhara Hindko Academy, Chinar Road, University Road at 10 am.
People from various walks of life, including women and children, will attend the function.
The ceremony forms a regular feature of the annual activities of the board which runs the Gandhara Hindko Academy in partnership with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.
Speeches will be made and national songs rendered in the Hindko language on the occasion.
The performance of the Peshawari Vines and Peshori Vines teams, which have won appreciations on the social media for the Hindko language skits, will be part of the programme.
The Gandhara Hindko Board has been working for the preservation and promotion of the Hindko language since its launch in 1993.
It has published a total of 80 books so far on various genres of Hindko which is second main language of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and sixth widely spoken language of the country.
