Employees outraged at Activision Blizzard's handling of layoffs, Kotaku reports.
Following Activision Blizzard's announcement that it was reducing its workforce by 8% along with its earnings report last night, employees at the company have been reacting with "rage," Kotaku's Jason Schreier reports, citing 20 people who were laid off or close to those being laid off, as well as others with knowledge as to what's happening with the company. "It's a bloodbath here," one Blizzard employee told Jason Schreier. "A lot more cuts than we were expecting." Sources told the Kotaku reporter that the consensus around the move was rage, namely at CEO Bobby Kotick's comments that the company had just gone through a "record year," at the way company executives seemingly view their employees as numbers on a spreadsheet, and at the callousness in which the job cuts were handled. Even employees who felt that the layoffs were necessary or justifiable told Schreier that they were shocked by the scale, scope, and coldness from management.
