stitch down

Before machine quilting, bring bobbin thread to the top of the quilt so it doesn't get caught as you quilt: lower presser foot, hold the top thread and take one stitch down and up, lift the presser foot to release the thread tension and tug on the top thread to draw a loop of the bobbin thread to the top of the quilt.

8 Sew a tight running stitch down either side of the headband, stitching the bias rectangle onto the back of the rose to hold it in place.

Run a stitch down the length of the piece adjacent to the fold.

Step 6: Place the front and back sections of the stocking right sides together and machine stitch down the right edge to the heel, with 13mm seam allowance.

STEP 9: With right sides together, stitch down the left side and round the foot to meet the previously sewn heel.

At every corner, the artisans have to stop and tie it off, stitch down the other angle, tie it off again, and so on.

Fold the raw edges under and stitch down. Zigzag-stitch across ends of ribbon and along butted edges at each end of slit.

Stitch down center through all layers, starting and stopping stitching 1/2" from top and bottom corners.

STEP 6: Place the front and back sections of the stocking right sides togetherand machine stitch down the right edge to the heel.
