Look now for yellow-bellied sapsucker, winter wren, golden-crowned kinglet,
hermit thrush, fox sparrow and pine warbler.
Hermit thrush and Canada warbler, as well as red-shouldered and broad-winged hawks, are also present, but less common.
The species which were most affected within our study for this region include the American Kestrel, Black-Crowned Night-Heron, Double-Crested Cormorant, Eastern Phoebe,
Hermit Thrush, Ruby-Crowned Kinglet, Savannah Sparrow, Warbling Vireo, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, the Horned Lark, and the Northern Shrike (Tables 3 and 4).
Additional species identified and studied include several species of bats, insects, moths and butterflies, multiple birds including
hermit thrush, scarlet tanager, northern cardinal, blue jay, European Starling, red-bellied woodpecker, and Eastern screech owl.

Conifer habitats had no significant indicator species associated only with this habitat, but they shared four significant indicator species typical of coniferous forest (Dark-eyed Junco Junco hyemalis, Chipping Sparrow Spizella passerina, Gray Jay Perisoreous canadensis, and
Hermit Thrush Catharus guttatus) with wetland sites.

Other state birds at risk include brown pelican (Louisiana), California gull (Utah),
hermit thrush (Vermont), mountain bluebird (Idaho and Nevada), ruffed grouse (Pennsylvania), purple finch (New Hampshire), and wood thrush (Washington, D.C.).
The Gilfeather was first bred in Vermont, and Losh has included images of the state animals: the Morgan horse, brook trout and
