Sajada Nasheen Dewan Ahmed Masood Chishti inaugurated the 'Mehfil-i-Sama' on Saturday night.

Thousands of devotees have attended the inaugural ceremony where Sajada Nasheen Makhdoom Jamil-u-Zaman laid floral wreath at the mazar and offered fateha and special prayers for the prosperity and development of Pakistan.

He said, about 500 Mashaikh, religious scholars and 'Naat Khawan' would participate in Urs celebrations while 200 spiritual personalities including 'Sajada Nasheen' Hazrat Moeenuddin Chisti Ajmairi of Ajmair Sharif (India) Syed Muhammad Bilal Chisti, Khawaja Fareeduddin Fakhari, Sajjada Nasheen Orangabad Sharif (India), and Pir Syed Dewan Tahir Nizami, Sajada Nasheen of Hazrat Khawaja Nizamuddin Aulia would also participate.

In fact, the word masjid is derived from the word for prostrate: Sajada. The masjid symbolises Islamic monotheism and the unity of the Muslim ummah.

Sajada Nasheen of Toba Tek Singh Pir Khurram Gilani, Sajada Nasheen of Bari Imam Syed Muqadas Kazmi and others also attended the meeting.

The congregation was attended among others by Sajada Nasheens of various shrines,spiritual and religious scholars, professors, intellectuals, political and social leaders as also thousands of lovers of Ghous Azam

Besides a large number of devotees, the Urs was attended by Sajjada Nasheen Bhit Shah, Hazrat Syed Waqar Hussain Shah, Sajada Nasheen Dargah Khawaja Moeen-ud-din Chishti, Hazrat Bilal Shah and a number of other Sajjada Nasheens of various dargahs from across Pakistan.

Sejjadah is a word constructed from the root verb sajada. Therefore a sejjadah is the rug where a worshipper places the head in complete submission to God during the act of prostration.
