roadcraft, which basically undid everything I thought I knew from 30 years of driving and taught me how to drive properly.
Roadcraft teaches you methods so that you have a complete view of the whole manoeuvre before committing, but I swear most Scottish overtakes are a wing and a prayer, and I dare say the cause of many crashes.
In preparation, I did a two-hour road-riding session on a 125cc bike, during which they hammered the fundamentals of
roadcraft into your head.
No-one is suggesting that schools will breed F1 hopefuls, but, with the emphasis on safety and
roadcraft, the newly-hatched campaign may help our fledgling drivers turn out to be a class act.

Then, after getting to grips with how to start the bike and, probably more importantly, how to stop the bike, it's a whole new world of clutch control, learning the gears and a bit of
roadcraft.
What is needed is a greater understanding of
roadcraft.

Motorists and other road users need to concentrate on competent
roadcraft and to be spared the distractions of such elevated tawdriness.
The most obvious difference is one where the Department for Transport's Driving Manual advises people to keep to a safety line following the left edge throughout any bend on country roads, and a completely different approach described in older versions of the driving manual,
Roadcraft.
