Gasserian ganglion so that peripheral stimuli no longer trigger an attack of trigeminal neuralgia13,14.
The
Gasserian ganglion of the trigeminal nerve has 3 branches, namely, the ophthalmic and maxillary nerves, and the sensory root of the mandibular nerve.

The trigeminal (or semilunar or
gasserian) ganglion is centered along the anterior, inferior and lateral wall of the Meckel's cave, which is essentially a cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) filled space continuous with the subarachnoid space of the basal cisterns through the porus trigeminus (5).
Trigeminal nerve starts at the midlateral surface of the pons, and its sensory ganglion (
gasserian ganglion) resides in Meckel's cave in the floor of the middle cranial fossa.
As a minority of cases of classical trigeminal neuralgia are not caused by vascular compression and appear to be idiopathic, it is possible that disordered physiological, anatomical, genetic, toxic, or degenerative factors may precipitate the generation of abnormal discharges by the
Gasserian ganglion, the trigeminal nerve root, or the trigeminal nucleus, causing the neuralgic pain [20, 35].
TGN root involvement in posterior fossa would present with intradural tumors, and the
gasserian ganglion involvement in middle cranial fossa would present with extra dural mass apart from symptoms of continuous facial pain, facial paresthesia, numbness, and so forth.

gasserian (Meckel's) cave which houses the trigeminal ganglion.
