Penfield, N.Y. — Do you like your coffee with a side of live music?
Both are on the menu at a rock star’s new music-themed cafe in Upstate New York.
Elvio’s coffee shop opened Thursday on the shore of Irondequoit Bay in Penfield. The shop is named after and co-owned by Elvio Fernandes, a keyboardist in the Grammy-nominated band Daughtry.
“I hope you feel the heart in every inch of this place,” Fernandes wrote in an Instagram post celebrating his cafe’s opening. “Let’s make some memories.”

Fernandes is a Western New York native.
He grew up in Gates and graduated from Gates Chili High School. The Webster resident is also the founder of ROC Star Academy, a music school in Rochester.
Fernandes competed with Daughtry against Papa Roach on “Celebrity Family Feud” in 2024. While Papa Roach won the game, the bands worked together to raise $25,000 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, according to WDHA.
Elvio’s cafe offers customers a good view of Irondequoit Bay. It boasts a stage for live music and a ceiling dotted with album covers.
The cafe’s menu features everything from toast topped with smoked salmon and a passion fruit smoothie to Portuguese espresso and specialty lattes.
Elvio’s opening day fell on a day Daughtry was off from touring in Rochester, Fernandes said. So the proud new cafe owner was able to celebrate the shop’s premiere in person.
“This place has been a labor of love from the start — built on music, inspired by coffee, rooted in culture, and fueled by the people who’ve supported this wild dream every step of the way," Fernandes wrote.
Elvio’s is at 1350 Empire Blvd. in Penfield. The cafe is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
