Four people hurt in 2 shootings less than a mile apart in Syracuse, police say

Syracuse, N.Y. — Four people were injured in two shootings within four hours less than a mile apart in Syracuse overnight, police said.

The first shooting was at 9:02 p.m. Monday in the 1000 block of Townsend Street, said Lt. Matthew Malinowski, a spokesperson for the Syracuse police.

Police found a 23-year-old woman shot in the leg when they arrived, Malinowski said Tuesday. She was transported to Upstate University Hospital.

Two 19-year-old men arrived at the hospital around the time police arrived at the scene, he said. The men had been shot in their legs, he said.

All three are expected to survive, Malinowski said.

At 12:29 a.m., police were called to the 100 block of Stewart Court for another shooting, he said.

Officers arrived, less than half a mile from the previous shooting, and found a 19-year-old man shot in the leg, he said.

The man was taken to Upstate hospital and is expected to survive, he said.

Police did not say if the two shootings were connected.
