How to create Excel 3D exploded pie chart in C#, VB.NET?
What is 3D Exploded Pie Chart?
A simple pie chart with pie explosion can be considered as an exploded pie chart. You can change the pie explosion setting for either all slices or individual slice.
3D Exploded Pie Chart
To create a 3D exploded pie chart in Excel using XlsIO, you need to do the following steps:
Steps to create 3D Exploded Pie Chart:
Step 1: Initialize chart
Create a chart object by calling the worksheet.Charts.Add method and specify the chart type as ExcelChartType.Pie_Exploded_3D enumeration value.
C#
// Create the chart IChartShape chart = worksheet.Charts.Add(); // Set chart type to Pie_Exploded_3D chart.ChartType = ExcelChartType.Pie_Exploded_3D;
Step 2: Assign data
Set a range of data from the worksheet to the chart’s DataRange property. To plot the series values in columns and categories in rows, set the chart’s IsSeriesInRows property to false.
C#
// Set region of chart data chart.DataRange = worksheet["A3:B7"]; // Set chart series in column for assigned data region chart.IsSeriesInRows = false;
Step 3: Apply basic chart elements
Add the basic elements like the chart title, data labels and legend with the below list of properties.
- ChartTitle of chart the object.
- Set DataLabels via DefaultDataPoint.
- Set TRUE to the chart’s HasLegend property, to show the legend.
C#
// Set chart title chart.ChartTitle = "3D Exploded Pie Chart"; // Set data labels IChartSerie serie = chart.Series[0]; serie.DataPoints.DefaultDataPoint.DataLabels.IsValue = true; // Set legend chart.HasLegend = true; chart.Legend.Position = ExcelLegendPosition.Bottom;
Step 4: Apply 3D chart elements
Add the 3D chart element like elevation.
- Elevation of chart object.
C#
// Set elevation chart.Elevation = 45;
Applicable properties for 3D Exploded Pie Chart
Below is the list of other common properties applicable for 3D exploded pie chart.
- Percent (Pie Explosion)
- First Slice Angle Note:
- In XlsIO, the default pie explosion for 3D exploded pie chart is 25%.
- Applying properties apart from the mentioned list might throw exception or the changes will not be reflected in the output document because those properties are not related to 3D exploded pie chart.
