LGBT+ History Month is for everyone; whether you work in education, a museum, a library or an art gallery, a business, a service, or are a member of a network/social group or an individual.
It is celebrated every February across the UK and was founded in 2004 by Schools OUT UK co-chairs, Paul Patrick & Professor Emeritus Sue Sanders. It was first celebrated in February 2005.
For so long LGBT+ people’s history was hidden, following the repeal of Section 28, UK LGBT+ History Month was created to:
- claim our past
- celebrate our present
- create our future
LGBTQ+ Society welcome anyone from any gender or sexual minority to join their society, and even allies who wish to support the community.
Rainbow Laces Week
Clubs and socs will be able to buy the rainbow laces through RAG as part of fundraising for LGBTQ+ History Month. Wear your rainbow laces to training between 24th Feb – 02 March.
Share Your Rainbows
All month you can leave messages and stories on our "Share Your Rainbows" in SUSU B42. Simply add your message to a rainbow magnet and add it to the wall. Lets stand strong together this LGBTQ+ History Month and beyond by sharing the history of the LGBTQ+ community, as well as our stories and the stories of our loved ones.
Pronoun Badges
Pronoun badges are available for free at SUSU main reception in Building 42. The badges we have available are she/her, they/them, he/him, he/them, she/them, and blank for you to add your own choice of pronouns.
