The character of a surface created by the response of vision to the wavelength of light. It identifies objects, creates moods, and affects emotions. (warm, cool, primary, secondary, intermediate, analogous, and complementary).
Color is an element of art which is made up of three distinct qualities:
Hue, intensity, and value
Hue: Hue refers to the name of a color. The term is used to point out the difference between a blue and a green or a red and a yellow.
Some Hues: Red, Yellow, Blue, Green, Violet
Intensity
Intensity - brightness or dullness of a color. A pure hue is a high-intensity color. A dulled hue doesnt stand out as much and can appear grayish.

Value: addition of lights and darks to color.

Tint
Shade: A hue produced by the addition of black. Tint: A hue produced by the addition of white.
