Disaster Management : (Emergency/Disaster Planning ) is a program to control Losses by planned actions (including technical preparedness) and pre-rehearsed drills To minimise effects of Disaster in Disruption of work, Loss to property and Human Life , in Shortest Time Objectives of Disaster Management 1. Rapid Containment of the Hazardous Situation 2. Minimising the Risks and Impact 3. Rehabilitation of those affected speedily (Physical/Psychological ) 4. Enable Resumption of Normalcy in shortest time (Livelihood/Communication/Transportation etc and eventual control by Local Self Govt) 5. Optimally Channelising AID to the site

Key Components of a Disaster Plan (Industry)

The Disaster Management will differ from Industry to Industry and hence must capture 1. Nature of Manufacturing process (Engg/Chemical/ Nuclear/ Electricity Generation) 2. Location of the Unit (Seismographic Zone/ Flood line / Structural Limitations ) 3. Plant /Unit Layout and Movement of Materials 4. Number of employees ordinarily present (Maximum Occupancy)

Emergency Eqpt & Facilities a) Fire Fighting Water /Extinguishers b) Showers c) Civil Engg Tools 5 Conveyance Arrangements a) Emergency aid staff b) Evacuation 6 Notification and Communication System a) EPABX (Exchange) b) Walkie Talkie /Radio Communication c) Important Tel Nos (911, 100 ,101 etc) d) Intelsat 7.
