Cleaning the Hard Drive


Over time your computer may become sluggish because of problems with the way files are stored on your hard drive. Files may have become corrupted if your computer is not shut down properly while it is writing to the disk. There is a built-in tool that will allow you to scan your hard drive for errors. This tool is called Check Disk (chkdsk). To run Check Disk on a drive: My Computer Rt click on a drive Properties Tools Check Now

Defragment
Fragmentation makes your hard disk do extra work that can slow down your computer. Disk Defragmenter rearranges fragmented data so your disks and drives can work more efficiently.

1. Right-click the file or folder 2. Point to Send to 3. Click Compressed (zipped) folder

A new compressed folder is created in the same location. To rename it, right-click the folder, click Rename, and then type the new name To extract (or unzip) files - double-click the compressed folder and click on Extract All
