Brushing
1) Angle: Hold brush at a 45-degree angle against your
gumline.
2) Motion: Gently brush from where the tooth and gum
meet to the chewing surface in short, half-a-tooth-wide
strokes.
Caution: Brushing too hard can cause receding
gums, sensitivity, and loose teeth.
3) Coverage: Use the same method for all outside and
inside surfaces of your teeth.

4) Chewing Surfaces: Use short sweeping strokes, tipping
bristles into pits and crevices.
5) Front Teeth: For inside surfaces of top and bottom front
teeth/gums, hold brush almost vertical. Use back-and-
forth motions, bringing the front part of the brush over
teeth and gums.
6) Tongue/Roof of Mouth: Use a forward-sweeping motion
to gently brush your tongue and the roof of your mouth
to remove decay-causing bacteria.

Daily Hygiene: Wash external
genitalia and underarms daily with
soap and water, especially during
menstruation.
Menstrual Care: Use a disposable
cotton pad (with nylon base) or a
clean cotton cloth to absorb blood.
Disposal: Properly dispose of pads
after each use. Wash and dry cloth
pads before reuse.

Washing Technique:
Crucial: Wash only the external
genitalia. DO NOT try to clean
the inside part of the vagina.
Direction: While washing, start
from the vagina towards the
anus. DO NOT wash from the
anus towards the vagina, as this
can introduce germs and cause
infection.

Daily Hygiene:
Wash the external genitalia at least daily with soap
and water, as part of your regular body washing
routine.
For uncircumcised boys, need to pull back the
foreskin and gently wash underneath it with clean
water.
Be aware of any abnormal fluids coming from your
penis. Do not confuse this with the presence of
normal fluids.
