PRAYER

God, our Father, the greatest Mathematician of all

time, We thank you for adding our family , our friends,
our classmates, and teachers to our lives, We humbly ask
for your infinite mercy for all the sins that we have
committed against You and our fellowmen;
May You subtract our weariness and worries,
multiply our blessings so we can divide it to others; We
pray to eliminate the conflicts and to substitute it with
love and peace; For ignorance and pride to diminish, for

positively surpass these challenging times.
All these we ask in the Mighty name of our
Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.

PATTERNS
At the end of the lesson, to be able
to:
- determine the sequence from a
given rule.
- identify the first few terms of a
sequence given the nth
term/equation.
- value accumulated knowledge as
means of new understanding.
Consider the following and
identify the next in the
sequence.

SEQUENCE
SEQUENCE
- is an ordered list wherein one
thing follows another in
succession.

-mathematically, it is a function
whose domain is the set of
positive integers.
TERM/s
Terms
- refers to each element or object
in the sequence.
Rule in a SEQUENCE
Also known as PATTERN RULE is a
mathematical relationship used to find
the value of each term in a sequence.
-This is an algebraic equation that
enables you to quickly find the value of
a term in a sequence using its rank.
Type of Rule
in a SEQUENCE
IMPLICIT RULE where a term is
expressed in terms of its previous term.

EXPLICIT RULE where any term can be

found using a general formula..
SEQUENCE

-FINITE SEQUENCE
INFINITE SEQUENCE
FINITE SEQUENCE

- is a sequence whose domain is

the set of positive integers
{1, 2, 3,4 5, . . ., n}
which has a last term, “n”.
INFINITE SEQUENCE

- is a sequence whose domain is

the set of positive integers
without a last term
{1, 2, 3,4 5, . . .}
The three dots (Ellipsis) show that
the sequence goes on and on
indefinitely.
