Histogram Presentation

A histogram is a bar graph that represents data grouped into intervals, showing the frequency of values within those intervals. Unlike bar graphs, histograms have no gaps between bars and are used for numerical data. They are useful for identifying patterns and trends in data, aiding in statistical analysis and understanding distributions.

Histograms

A visual way to represent data

What is a
Histogram?

• A histogram is a type of bar graph.

• It shows how data is grouped into
intervals (or bins).
• Each bar represents the frequency
(how many values) in that interval.
Histogram vs Bar
Graph

• Histogram: No gaps between bars,

used for numerical data.
• Bar graph: Has gaps, used for
categorical data
Parts of a
Histogram

• X-axis: Shows the intervals

(e.g., 0–10, 10–20, etc.)
• Y-axis: Shows the frequency
• Bars: Height = number of data
points in that interval
Example: Age of students in a class
Age student
s
0-5 2
6-10 5
11-15 8

Why Use
Histograms?

• Easy to see patterns and trends in

data
• Helps in understanding distribution
• Useful in statistics and real-life
data analysis
