Computer

The document is a project by Manya Gautam from City Montessori School discussing the four types of computers: Mini Computers, Mainframe Computers, Super Computers, and Micro Computers. Each type is described in terms of size, cost, power, and typical uses, highlighting their differences and applications. The project also includes acknowledgments to teachers and family for their support.

ACKNOWLEDGEME
NT
I express my sincere respect and gratitude to my all subject teachers …. and
especially to my computer teacher Mrs. Priya Mam for giving all the
suggestion time to time in completing this project work. Our principal Mam,
Mrs. Nisha Pandey, who gave me the golden opportunity to do this wonderful
project on the topic-physical quantity and measurement which also helped me
in doing a lot of research and I came to know about so many things from that
chapter.
I would like to special thanks to my elder sister Ms. Manorama Gautam, who
has given me a valuable support in doing this project.
I hope you all like it.. thankyou.
Types of
computer …
There are four types of computer-:
Mini Computer
Mainframe Computer
Super Computer
Micro Computer
To learn
more
about
Mini Computer-: A minicomputer, or
colloquially mini, is a class of
smaller computers that was developed in the mid-
1960s and sold for much less than mainframe and
mid-size computers from IBM and its direct
competitors. they were designed for primary
appliances.. They are smaller, less expensive, and
less powerful than a mainframe or supercomputer,
but more expensive and more powerful than
a personal computer. Minicomputers are used for
scientific and engineering computations, business-
transaction processing, file handling, and database
management, and are often now referred to as
small or midsize servers. They have greater
capacity and larger memory as compared to micro
computers. They are also capable of handling more
than one input-output devices..
Main frame computers-: they are
the computers that can handle huge volumes
of data and information…they are large,
expensive and can support more than hundred
users.. The mainframes have more processing
power compared to servers and
microcomputers (like- laptop, PC, etc.…), but
have less processing power compared to a
supercomputer. Universities, banking
institution , stock exchanges and insurance
companies use main frame computer..
Mainframe computers were designed to
handle large-scale processing, data storage
and other tasks too resource-intensive for the
average computer or small-scale network to
handle -- for example, a bank's transactions.
Super computer-: they are
considered as the most powerful computers in
terms of performance and processing… some
of today’s supercomputers have a computing
capacity equal to that 40,000 micro computers..
they are also called as number crunchers as
they can solve huge mathematical calculations..
A supercomputer is a computer with a high
level of performance as compared to a general-
purpose computer. The performance of
a supercomputer is commonly measured in
floating-point operations per second (FLOPS)
instead of million instructions per second
(MIPS). They are mainly used in the fields of
weather forecasting.. Testing nuclear weapons
and oil exploration..
Micro computers-: they were
firstly used on 1970s.. A microcomputer
is a small, relatively inexpensive
computer with a microprocessor as its
central processing unit. It includes a
microprocessor, memory and minimal
input/output circuitry mounted on a
single printed circuit board. They are
known as personal computers and are
relatively less expensive.. Laptops and
desktops are typical examples of a
microprocessor In the CPU.. They are
consider as smallest and affordable…
they are also having a high processing
speed..
