What is PPT 16
o PowerPoint is a presentation software that allows you
to create dynamic slide presentations.
o Slideshows can include animation, narration,
images, videos, and much more.
Launching PPT
o To get start MS PowerPoint:
o Click the search box.
o Write “PowerPoint” in the search bar.
o Click the icon of the PowerPoint app

 Create New Blank Presentation
o Click the File tab.
o Select New.
o Select Blank presentation under
Available Templates and Themes.
o Click Create.
o A new, blank presentation appears in
the PowerPoint window

 Open an Existing Presentation
o Click the File tab.
o Select Open.
o The Open dialog box appears.
o Select your desired presentation,
then click Open

 About Slides
o Slides contain placeholders, which
are areas on the slide that are
enclosed by dotted borders.
o Placeholders can contain many
different items, including text,
pictures, and charts.
o Some placeholders have placeholder
text, or text that you can replace.

 Slide Layout
o A slide layout arranges your content
using different types of placeholders,
depending on what kind of
information you might want to include
in your presentation.
o NOTE: PowerPoint will automatically
use the "Title Slide" layout for the first
slide in your presentation, and the "
The title and Content" layout for each
consecutive slide

 Customizing Slide Layout
o Select the slide you wish to change.
o Click the Layout command in the
Slides group on the Home tab.
o A menu will appear with your
options.
o Choose a layout from the menu.
o The slide will change in the
presentation.

 Working with Slides
o Insert New Slide:
 From the Home tab, click the bottom half
of the New Slide command to open the
menu of slide layout options.
 Select the slide you want to insert.
 A new slide will be added to your
presentation.

o Copy and Paste a Slide:
 On the Slides tab in the left pane, select
the slide you wish to copy.
 Click the Copy command on the Home
tab. You can also right-click your
selection and choose Copy.
 Click the Paste command on the Home
tab. You can also right-click and choose
Paste .The copied slide will appear.

 Working with Slides
o Duplicating a Slide:
 An alternative to Copy and
Paste ,Duplicate copies the selected slide
and, in one step, pastes it directly
underneath.
 Select the slide you wish to duplicate.
 Right click the selected slide
 Choose Duplicate Selected Slides from
drop-down menu.
 A copy of the selected slide appears
underneath the original.

 Working with Slides
o Deleting a Slide:
 Select the slide you wish to delete .
 Press the Delete or Backspace key on
your keyboard .
o Moving a Slide:
 Select the slide you wish to move .
 Click, hold, and drag your mouse to a
new location.
 Release the mouse button.
 The Slide will appear in the new location.

o The View Buttons: control the look of the
presentation window with a single click.
o There are different views:
 Norma View
o The Normal View is the default view
when you open PowerPoint, and it is
divided into three panes:
o Preview/Outline Pane:
o on the left is used to view the outline of your
presentation or thumbnail pictures of your
slides.

o Preview/Outline Pane:
 on the left is used to view the outline of
your presentation or thumbnail pictures
of your slides.
o Slide Pane:
 In the center displays the active slide
o The Notes pane:
 On the bottom is used to add notes that
can be used by a speaker during a
presentation.

 Slide Shorter
o Displays Multiple Slides-you can perform
tasks such as reordering slides and adding
builds, transitions, hide slides.
 Notes Page View
o You can create pages to print and use as a
guide during your presentation.
 Reading View
o In this new view, the status bar contains
the Next and Previous buttons, which are
used to navigate quickly throughout the
presentation.

 Outline View
o The outline tab shows your slide text
in outline form.
o This allows you to quickly edit your
slide text, and view the contents of
multiple slides at once.
 Slide Show
o This view completely fills the
computer screen and is what the
audience will see when they view the
presentation.

 Apply a Design Theme
o Theme is a predefined combination
of colors, fonts, and effects that can
be applied to your presentation.
o Themes contain fonts, colors and
effects.
o Go to the Design tab.
o Locate the Themes group.
o Click a theme to apply it to the
slides.

 Change the Background Style
o To change your background style, you
can click on the Background Styles
button under the Design Tab in the
Background group.
o When you click on the button the
Background Styles gallery displays, and
you can choose your style.
o You can point to each of the background
styles to view the style on your slide, and
you can right-click on the style to display
the shortcut menu.

 Adding Animation
o Select an object.
o Click the Animations tab.
o In the Animation group, click the
More drop-down arrow to view the
available animations.
o Select the desired animation effect.
Working with Slide Effects…
 Applying Slide Transition
o Select the slide you wish to modify.
o Click the Transitions tab.
o Locate the Transition to This Slide
group. By default, None is applied to
each slide.
o Click the More drop-down arrow to
display all of the transitions.
o Click a transition to apply it to the
selected slide. This will automatically
preview the transition as well.

 Hiding a Slide
o To hide a slide, right-click the slide
that you want to hide, and then click
Hide Slide.
o The hidden slide icon appears over
the slide number, next to the slide
that you have hidden.
o To show a slide that you previously
hid, right-click the slide that you want
to show, and then click hide slide.
Working with Slide Effects…
 Using an Action Button
o An action button is a built-in button
that you can insert into your
presentation.
o Go to the slide on which you want to
create an action button.
o On the Insert tab, in the Illustrations
group, click the arrow under Shapes,
and a Shapes Gallery is displayed.
o Under the Action Button section, click
the button that you want to add.
