Factors affecting the usage of Green

Energy methods at Transportation
sector in Cairo
INTRODUCTION
Egypt occupies a historical position as one of the
great capitals of the Arab world and the world at
large, Egypt has historically relied on fossil fuels,
particularly natural gas and oil, for its energy
needs.
However, increasing energy demands and
environmental concerns have prompted a shift
toward renewable energy sources.
The Egyptian government has set ambitious goals
for sustainable development, outlined in the
Vision 2030 framework.
This includes a commitment to reducing
greenhouse gas emissions and promoting the use
of clean energy across various sectors, including
transportation.
INTRODUCTION
Egypt is a signatory to various international
agreements aimed at combating climate change,
such as the Paris Agreement.
This commitment has spurred the government to
explore innovative solutions in the transportation
sector. The new green modern transportation
networks are:
 Usage of electrical vehicles at Cairo.
 The completion of a Greater Cairo Metro network to
implement of 6 Metro lines.
 Construct Monorail project to connect east of Cairo
with west of Cairo till the new administrative capital.
 Construct the LRT project.
 Construct the BRT Bus project.
Egypt has a powerful transportation
system, but it still has a lot of work
to do to fulfill the rising mobility
demands, particularly in its
urban regions.
The nation's transportation system is
having a hard time keeping up with
RESEARCH the expanding population and the
STATEMENT growing need for efficient and
sustainable transportation solutions.
In this people's study, we
examine the elements
influencing willingness to choose
green energy transportation
over fuel energy transportation.
RESEARCH
OBJECTIVES
1. Evaluate the effect of age & income and
gender on the Egyptian citizens’ acceptance to
Promoting green energy transportation
methods.
2. Determine other factors influencing the
Egyptian citizens’ acceptance to Promoting
modern green transportation methods.
3. Find if there are relationships between
factors that may influence the acceptance of
people to Promoting modern green public
transportations.
RESEARCH QUESTIONS
Q1: To which extent dose the age affects the Egyptian
citizens’ acceptance to Promoting modern green
transportation methods?
Q2: To which extent dose the gender affects the
Egyptian citizens’ acceptance to Promoting modern
green transportation methods?
Q3: To which extent dose the income affects the
Egyptian citizens’ acceptance to Promoting modern
green transportation methods?
Q4: How many other factors influencing the Egyptian
citizens’ acceptance to Promoting modern public
transportation methods?
Q5: How other factors influencing the Egyptian
citizens’ acceptance to Promoting modern green
transportation methods?
THEORETICAL
FRAMEWORK

H1: If prices increase then the number of users

decreases. (Inverse relationship)
H2: If Personal income increase then the number of
users’ increase. (Inverse relationship)
H3: If online ticketing and payment increase then
the number of user’s increase (positive
relationship)
H4: If users age increases then the number of users
decreases. (Inverse relationship)
H5: There is no relation between the gender and
the new GT usage. (Non-directional relationship)
RESEARCH DESIGN

1- Research methodology: Quantitative (questionnaire)

2- Data collection technique: primary (questionnaire)
3- Sample size and sampling technique:
 Large populations make investigating each member
impractical and expensive.
 Easier and cheaper to take a sample and make
estimates about the population from the sample.

4- Data analysis:
 Descriptive Statistics:
 Inferential Statistics:
People are more willing to change for Safety &
Security reasons, then in second place comes
the Efficiency, Cleanness & Time Saving.
However Online Booking & Credit Card Service
comes as last reason in willingness to change
to the new transportation methods.
RESEARCH
SOME We can conclude that respondents with
income level more than 50K EGP / month have
FINDINGS no matter with the amount paid for either the
AND current or the new transportation methods.
RESULTS There is no clear relationship between
the increase in income and the use the
new transportation method if the
service of booking online and paying by
Credit card is provided.

1 The influences of both safety and security are

positively affecting the wildlings to change in most of
the respondents.

Efficiency, Cleanness & Time Saving have

2 moderate influences on the respondents’
acceptance to change and use new
transportation methods.

3 While online booking & Credit Card Service are

the prices of electrical vehicles also the ticket prices
4 of public methods should be affordable to all to
encourage using it. In addition, we believe if our
survey is communicated to many people, this will
justify and boost our finding.

Target more segment of Population to extend the

for the findings which got.
In additional to that, more studies for the main
reasons which preventing citizens to use new green
energy transportations.
More studies about how to encourage citizens to use
new green energy transportations.
