Smart Recycling Bin with AI Sorting


In this project, the smart bin will have an ultrasonic sensor which
once detects the garbage, raspberry pi clicks its photo and decides if
it is dry or wet waste with the help of AI and commands arduino to
open the suitable box for dry and wet waste. For example, if a person
brings a banana peel in front of the ultrasonic sensor, it will click its
photo and decide that it is wet waste and will open the box for wet
waste. In traditional waste management systems, incorrect sorting of
recyclables often leads to contamination of recycling streams. This
will ensure that the waste is separated correctly. People often
struggle to identify which items are recyclable and where they
should be placed, leading to confusion and mistakes. Often people
also doesn’t pay attention to separate dry and wet waste, this system
will not allow people to put waste in incorrect bin as the bins will not
open unless and until they scan the garbage. The advantage of this
project is the smooth working of waste segregation system and

environment and keeps it clean.
