Old methods of communication


Ways people can communicate
➯ Emails
Email(Electronic mail) is very popular form of communication
between people. However many countries have laws to protect people
from the misuse of emails such as:
a. Ensuring emails do not have false or misleading subject lines.
b. Organizations are not allowed capture and store lists of email
addresses.
c. Organizations must ensure privacy policy are clear.
d. When sending an email the language and content within the email
needs to be appropriate.
e. If the emails is being sent to an employee within a business then the
language should be formal.
NETIQUETTE

Netiquette: The rules of etiquette that


apply when communicating over
computer networks, especially the
Internet.
SPAM

Spam { junk } email is sent out to recipients from a


mailing list. The email could be part of a phishing scam or
could be to promote certain products. They are basically
unwanted emails. If a spam email is part of a phishing
scam, your details could be leaked.
EMAIL GROUPS

➯ Email Groups are contacts which are grouped


together So that emails can be sent to multiple
recipients. When sending an email to a group you
would just have to write the name of the group
The Internet: This is a wide area network made from a
number of computers and networks linked together to
form one large network. It can be accessed by anyone
with an internet connection. Anyone can add information
to the internet which means some information is
incorrect or biased while others may be reliable and

Protocol}/HTTPS: This are rules which are
followed when transferring information across the
internet. Rules are agreed between the sender and
recipient when data is being transferred.

This is the unique address given to any document
found on the internet. URLs are represented by numbers

friendly and so therefore an alphanumeric format

Protocol:// Website Address /Path/Filename
 Web Browser: A web browser allows the user to
display a webpage. A web browser will use URLs to
access specified websites.

FTP [File transfer protocol]: This is a network


protocol that is used when transferring files from one
computer to another over the internet. Popular FTPs
such as FileZilla are popular FTP application that is
used to upload web pages so that they can be hosted
and viewed on the internet.
