INTRODUCTION
In Tumkur, India, TMEIC has a strong presence in the power electronics domain, specializing in the
design, development, and manufacturing of Medium Voltage Drives (MVDs), Photovoltaic (PV)
Solar Inverters, and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems.
Industries face challenges related to energy inefficiency, high power consumption, harmonic
distortion, and system reliability.
Traditional motor control methods often result in power losses and poor system performance, while
unoptimized energy conversion systems can lead to high operational costs and reduced sustainability.
INTRODUCTION CONTD…
Ensuring seamless integration of MVDs, PV inverters, and UPS systems while maintaining
efficiency and power quality is a critical issue that needs to be addressed.
As an intern at TMEIC Industrial Systems India Private Limited, the primary aim is to gain practical
experience and technical knowledge in power electronics.
The internship focuses on understanding Medium Voltage Drives (MVDs), Photovoltaic (PV) Solar
Inverters, and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, which are essential for efficient motor
control, renewable energy integration, and power backup.

Products offered by TMEIC: Medium Voltage Drives (MVDs), PV Solar Inverters, UPS Systems
AutoCAD:
AutoCAD is widely used in TMEIC for designing and analyzing electrical schematics, control
circuits, and panel layouts in power electronics and industrial automation.
It plays a crucial role in creating wiring diagrams for Medium Voltage Drives (MVDs), PV solar
inverters, UPS systems, and other industrial power solutions.
The software aids in circuit analysis, component placement, and interconnection of electrical
elements, ensuring efficient design and troubleshooting.
It is used to generate technical documentation required for customer approvals, maintenance,
and compliance with standards like IEC, IEEE, and UL.
AutoCAD helps in spatial planning of electrical components within cabinets, facilitating fault
analysis and power flow studies before implementation.
The software ensures precision, efficiency, and standardization in TMEIC’s engineering
workflow.
TOOLS AND TECHNOLOGIES CONTD…
EPLAN:
EPLAN is another key software used for designing and managing electrical schematics with a
focus on automation and efficiency.
It is primarily used for creating intelligent electrical diagrams, generating Bill of Materials (BOM),
and streamlining the engineering workflow.
Integration of wiring, terminal diagrams, and component management makes EPLAN a preferred
tool for industrial applications.
Enhances accuracy by reducing manual errors, automating repetitive tasks, and ensuring
compliance with global electrical standards.
Supports efficient documentation, improving collaboration between design and manufacturing
teams.
The database-driven approach in EPLAN helps in standardizing designs, reducing design time, and
improving project execution.

CREO:
CREO is widely used in TMEIC for 3D modeling, mechanical design, and simulation of industrial
products such as MVDs, PV solar inverters, and UPS systems.
Plays a crucial role in designing enclosures, heat sinks, cooling systems, and mechanical components for
optimal performance and durability.
Facilitates the development of assembly models, allowing visualization of electrical and mechanical
component integration.
Supports design optimization, enabling quick modifications, reducing prototyping costs, and improving
efficiency.
Advanced simulation and design capabilities in CREO enhance TMEIC’s product development process,
leading to efficient and reliable industrial solutions.
FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES
1. Form refers to the physical characteristics of a product, including its shape, size,
dimensions, and overall appearance. It ensures that the design aligns with operational and
aesthetic requirements.
2. Fit ensures that components assemble correctly and integrate seamlessly with existing
systems or enclosures. It focuses on compatibility with mechanical and electrical
interfaces.
3. Function defines the intended operation and performance of a product. It ensures that the
equipment meets technical specifications, efficiency, reliability, and safety standards.
MV DRIVES
What is an MV Drive?
A Medium Voltage (MV) Drive is a type of variable frequency drive (VFD) designed to
control the speed, torque, and direction of medium-voltage electric motors. These drives are
commonly used in industrial applications such as oil & gas, mining, power generation, and
water treatment plants.
An MV Drive Panel is an enclosed system that houses the MV drive along with its associated
components. It ensures the safe and efficient operation of the drive while protecting it from
environmental factors, electrical faults, and mechanical damage.
SECTIONS OF DRIVE PANEL
• Input Section: Vaccum contact, ACL(Active Common-mode Line Reactor), Space heater.
• Transformer : Transformer, Thermostat(varying temperature)
• Converter/Inverter: IGBT(Insulated gate bipolar transistor)
• Control Panel: MCB, MCCB, Terminal block, Relay.
• Auxiliary Panel: This panel is added depending on the customers requirements if extra
components need to be added based on their application.
ADVANTAGES OF MV DRIVES
Energy efficiency.
Reduced mechanical stress on motors.
Improved process control.
Extended motor life.
