WHAT IS SYSTEM OF LINEAR
EQUATIONS?
• A linear equation in two variable is an
equation that can be written in the
form: ax + by = c where a, b and c are
real numbers, a and b ≠ 0.
• Two or more linear equations
considered together form a system of
linear equations.
WHY IS IT CALLED SYSTEM?
• because it consists of multiple equations
that are interconnected and must be
solved together.

and slope-intercept RECAP!
Convert the equation to standard
form.
a. -2 + 4x = -2y
standard form:
4x + 2y = 2
slope-intercept form:
-2y = 4x - 2
y = -2x + 1
A solution to a system of
linear equations in two
variables consists of an
ordered pair that satisfies
both equations.
