Auto Phase Shifting

The project aims to design an automatic phase shifting system that switches between single-phase and three-phase power sources using an Arduino-controlled servo motor, ensuring uninterrupted power supply. It features real-time alerts via a GSM module, audio-visual feedback through a buzzer and LCD display, and aims to enhance power reliability while reducing manual intervention. The system continuously monitors power availability and provides instant notifications about phase changes to improve monitoring for both industrial and domestic applications.

AIM OF THE PROJECT
 The aim of this project is to design and implement an automatic phase
shifting system that seamlessly switches between single-phase and three-
phase power sources using an Arduino-controlled servo motor. The
system ensures an uninterrupted power supply by detecting phase
availability and automatically shifting the power source when necessary.
Additionally, it provides real-time alerts through a GSM module,
notifying users via SMS about phase transitions. A buzzer and LCD
display are integrated to give immediate audio-visual feedback on phase
status.
 This project aims to enhance power reliability, reduce manual
intervention, and improve monitoring for industrial and domestic
applications.
 Objectives:
Ensure Continuous Power Supply – Automatically shift between single-phase and three-phase
power to maintain an uninterrupted power supply.
Automate Phase Switching – Use an Arduino-controlled servo motor to seamlessly switch
between power sources without manual intervention.
Monitor Power Availability – Continuously detect the presence of three-phase and single-phase
power to determine the required phase shift.
Provide Real-Time Alerts – Utilize a GSM module to send SMS notifications about phase
changes, such as:

 "Phase changed from Single Phase to Three Phase."

 "Phase changed from Three Phase to Single Phase."

Incorporate Audio and Visual Indications – Use a buzzer for audible alerts and an LCD
display to show real-time power status.

WORKING:
The Automatic Phase Shifting System continuously monitors the availability
of three-phase and single-phase power using an Arduino UNO. The Arduino
triggers a servo motor to shift the power supply to single-phase vice versa
automatically. When three-phase power is restored, the system switches back
without manual intervention. A buzzer provides an audible alert, while a GSM
module sends an SMS notification updating the user about phase changes.
Additionally, an LCD display shows real-time power status. This fully
automated system ensures uninterrupted power supply, reducing manual effort
and improving power reliability.
SOFTWARE’S USED:

 Embedded C programming.
 Arduino IDE studio for dumping code into Micro controller.
 Express SCH for Circuit design.

• Three phase supply.
REGULATED POWER SUPPLY
 Every embedded system requires dc voltage and that that will
be 5v supply
 We are getting 230v, 50 Hz in our house hold applications.

We can be used to operate the home appliances like T.V,

cooler, fan, light’s
 Digital electronic devices need digital supply and we can
get supply from regulated power supply block

1.ARDUINO UNO

 The Arduino Uno is a

microcontroller board which
has ATmega328 from the AVR
family. There are 14 digital
input/output pins, 6 Analog
pins and 16MHz ceramic
resonator.
 USB connection, power jack
and also a reset button is
used. Its software is supported
by a number of libraries, that
makes the programming
easier.
LCD
DISPLAY
 A liquid crystal display (LCD) is a thin, flat electronic visual
display that uses the light modulating properties of liquid
crystals.

 Liquid crystal display is very important device in embedded

system. It offers high flexibility to user as he can display the
required data on it.

 These are used in a wide range of applications, including

computer monitors, television, instrument panels, aircraft,
cockpit displays, signage, etc.

BUZZER
 A buzzer or beeper is an audio signaling device, which
may be mechanical, electromechanical, or electronic.

 A buzzer can be operated on two principles.

1. piezo electric buzzer, it generates sound because of the

piezoelectric effect.

2. magnetic buzzer is based on the electromagnetic

principle. In this project we are going to use magnetic
buzzer.

characteristics of buzzer circuit :

1. sound level -------------------70-95 dB
2. current consumption---------35-60 ma
3. resonant frequency---------- 1-3 khz
