TITLE
This are the keywords that identify a project.

It is designed or chosen to concisely


communicates, what your research is all
about.
Example
Example title: a quantitative study into the
drivers of corruption within the tertiary
education sector in Zimbabwe.
Broad topic : Corruption
Focal topic : the drivers of corruption
Context : within the tertiary education
sector
Methodology (at least a hint) : quantitative,
it shows that the research is based on
numerical values , mathematical blaaa blaaa
RESEARCH PROPOSAL
A research proposal is simply a structured, formal
document that explains what is the plan to your
research and to convince the reader to approve the
research.
STUCTURE OF A RESEARCH PROPOSAL
1. The descriptive title or title page.

2. A rich introduction and background to the


proposed research.

3. A discussion of the scopa delimitation to the


research.
HOW TO FORMULATE A
RESEARCH PROPOSAL
1. Put the problem in context, (what do we already know).

2. Describe the precise issue that the research will address, (what
do we need to know).

3. Show the relevance of the problem, (why do we need to know


it).

4. Set the objectives of the research, (what will you do to find out).
HOW TO DEFEND YOUR
RESEARCH PROPOSAL
1. Summarize (know) your research methods, and be able to
explain e.g. quantitative over qualitative.

2. Explain the positive contributions of your research to the


field.

3. Summarize the conclusion you made and give your


recommendation for future research.
KEY MISTAKES TO AVOID
1. Coming up with a research title and proposal that is going
against the template, dissertation guide.

2. Unnecessary details, what is not guided by the dissertation


guide.

3. Repetition, it kills research .

4. Avoid Complicated research , choose something that you have a


background in. (don’t just give yourself a hard time)
