Text Structure
Why learn this?
● We learn about text structures like chronological, cause and effect,
problem and solution, and compare and contrast because they help us
become better readers, writers, and thinkers.
🌟 Why We Learn About Text Structures: 🔍 Quick Breakdown of Each:
1. They help us understand what we read more easily. • Chronological Order:
Knowing how a text is organized helps us follow the Events are told in the order they happened (like a timeline
author's ideas and remember important details. or story).
2. They help us find information faster. 👉 We use it in storytelling, history, instructions, etc.
For example, if we're reading to find a problem and how it • Cause and Effect:
Shows why something happened and what happened as
was solved, we know exactly where to look!
a result.
3. They help us write more clearly. 👉 Great for science, history, and explaining relationships.
Understanding these structures helps us plan our own • Problem and Solution:
writing and organize our ideas. Presents a problem and then explains how it was solved.
4. They improve critical thinking. 👉 Useful in persuasive writing, essays, and nonfiction
We learn to see how events connect, how ideas are articles.
similar or different, and how problems are solved. • Compare and Contrast:
Shows how two or more things are alike and different.
👉 Used in essays, research, and decision-making
