PROBLEM STATEMENT
OBJECTIVE
SCOPE
METHODOLOGY
1. Studies - Conduct research through Internet, Books and Annual Report of wheelchair companies 2. Discussion Group - Brainstorming among the group members to decide the best concept for the motorized wheelchair 2. Prototyping - Build look alike models and obtained feedback about our concept from expertise i.e lecturer and lab technician
LOOK LIKE MODEL Insufficient strength properties of the materials - cardboard too soft - axels materials (wooden sticks) - arm rest (plastic tube with wooden sticks fills) Too many wheel designs
LOOK LIKE MODEL Too many wheel designs Wheels size too small for intended load Anthropometry miscalculations

MATERIAL SELECTION
Part
Battery
Material Lithium Ion Best mass to power ratio Very slow lost of charge Separate charging dock to enabled user to charge the battery separately from the wheelchair body
Part
Body
Material Aluminum 6111 Corrosion resistance Precipitation hardening Hard yield strength Less cost Use extensively in automotive industry
Part
Wheel
Material Tweel (developed by Michelin Tyre) Polyeuretine spokes Support extra weight Latest development in airless/uninflated tyre shock-absorbing role of a traditional tyre's pneumatic properties
Part
Seat
Material Natural rubber latex foam Provide better support Less environmental consideration Covered with semi leather material for good looks, durability and easy cleaning

Motor
Material Brushless DC motor Long life span Low maintenance High efficiency Safety
CONCEPT
CONCLUSION
In can be concluded that we have achieve our target to develop the concepts and build a look alike model of electric powered motorized wheelchair as required in MEM 531 Integrated Product Design subject. The model will serve as our guide to build a working prototype for MEM 673 Integrated Product Design 2 subject
