• When you summarize, you present


someone else’s ideas (spoken or written) in
your own words.

• You do this when debating, writing reports/


texts, and giving presentations

project or research must be linked to the
information that already exists.
• In fact-based texts you always inform the reader,
who you are summarizing in your text.
• That is, you tell who originally wrote/ said/
