information technology.
 Benefits :

> Lower operating costs

> Reduce worker fatigue

> Increase efficiency

3
Problem Statement
“ To design and implement a PLC based automatic seal
stamping system for sealing documents at a particular
position”

Motivation

 Conventionally manual sealing is used in many

institutions and offices – Time consuming, erroneous,
require human labor.

 Proposed project is to overcome the difficulties

associated with manual stamping.

Printing Machine Using PLC”, International Journal
of Advanced Research in Electronics and
Communication Engineering (IJARECE) , ISSN: 2278 –
909X, Volume 6, Issue 5, May 2017.

Summary:
 It is based on the concept of automatic rubber stamp
object printing machine using PLC.
 Replaces traditional hand stamping method by automatic
printing.
 Automatic object printing machine consist of conveyor
belt mechanism .

Shende, “Automatic Stamping Machine”, Journal of
Scientific Research and Review, ISSN:2279-543X,
Volume 8, Issue 6, 2019.

Summary :
 The stamping machine is controlled by

microcontroller.
 This machine is used to stamp logo or name on leather,

card board, papers, and plastic articles crafts.

 Automated stamping machine driven by pneumatic

systems. 6

Pneumatic Stamping Machine”, International Journal &
Magazine of Engineering, Technology, Management and
Research, ISSN No: 2348-4845,Volume 2, Issue 7, July
2015.

Summary:
 The stamping mechanism using microcontroller is
designed.
 Pneumatic stamping is used because of more accuracy
and less cost.
 The machine can be controlled at low pressure (even
pressure of 6 bars is enough for the operation).

Summary:

 Represents the design of a ladder diagram for the

application of a stamping process.

 The stamping mechanism is controlled by PLC.

 PLC programming software is been selected.

8
Objectives

 Fabrication of a mechanical structure.

 Detects the presence of booklets.
 Control the movement of seal .
 Co-ordinate the movements of booklet and seal.
 Stamping a seal on particular position.
 Design a prototype model.

9
Methodology

 Mechanical structure – The designed mechanical

structure is fabricated.

 Sensor testing.

 IR Sensor

 Limit switch

 Testing of sealing and pushing mechanism.

 Platform lifting using motor.

10
Methodology Contd..

 Interfacing sensors, pneumatic cylinders and motor

to the PLC.

 PLC Programming.

 Coordinating the movement of platform(documents)

and seal using program.

11
Block Diagram

12
COMPONENTS:
 IR Sensor:

• Electronic instrument used to sense certain

characteristics in surrounding.

• We use IR sensor to detect the presence of booklets.

13
• Applications

a. Widely used for distance measurement purposes.

b. Surface feature detection.

c. Barcode decoding.

d. Tracking system.

14
 Pneumatic cylinder

• Mechanical device which use the power of compressed

gas to produce a force in a linear motion.

• Pneumatic cylinders are used for pushing and lifting the

stamping platform.

15
• Types of Pneumatic cylinder

a. Single acting cylinder

16
b. Double acting cylinder

17
 Platform lifting mechanism

• By connecting with the wiper motor platform lifting is

done.

• Converts rotational movement into translational by

some mechanical arrangement.

• A device circuit is used here to control another circuit or

components .

18
 PLC

• Programmable Logic Controller

• Computer specially designed to operate reliable harsh

industrial environment.

• Control unit in the system.

• Easy programming language.

24
Conclusion
 Reliable printing mechanism.

 Low cost and low power consumption.

 More number of documents can be sealed in less

time.

 Reduced Cost labour.

 The project helped us to explore the usage of PLC

for automating the sealing system.

25
Applications
 Used in school and colleges.

 Used in hospitals , offices and banks.

 Used in manufacturing industries.

26
Future scope
•A portable automatic pneumatic stamping machine can be developed
which has many advantages of the low power consumption and
effective performance.

•The system can be further modified to setup operations like punching,

binding, etc.

•Aluminum frame can be used for the entire experimental setup to

reduce the weight.
