Year 10 Motion Lesson 4 - Velocity-Time Graphs

This document outlines a lesson plan on velocity-time graphs, including learning objectives related to drawing and interpreting distance-time and speed-time graphs. It provides tasks for students to complete, such as analyzing graphs and calculating speed, acceleration, and distance. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of the area under a velocity-time graph as a measure of distance traveled.

Lesson 4 – Velocity-Time Graphs
Learning objectives:
- Draw, plot and interpret distance-time, or speed-time graphs for
objects at different speeds and use the graphs to calculate
speed or distance travelled.
- Use the shape of a speed-time graph to calculate acceleration.
Starter:
1) What information can you get from the gradient of a distance-
time graph?
2) What does a horizontal line mean on a distance time graph?
3) How do you find the instantaneous speed on a distance-time
graph if the object is accelerating?
Marked classwork

Task:
Complete the worksheet about distance-time graphs.

Work by yourself (no talking) and do not use your devices. It is

not a test, so you can use your notes.
