Definition and functions of application software

The term “Application Software" refers to software that performs specific


functions for a user.

When a user interacts directly with a piece of software, it is called application


software. Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as popular web browsers like Firefox
and Google Chrome, are examples of application software.
Types of application software

• Web browsers • Word processors


• Presentation software • Database software
• Spreadsheet software • Multimedia software
• Graphic software • Education software
Definition of business application software and examples
Company software is a collection of applications and features created to do certain productive,
creative, financial, and day-to-day business tasks. Business software is mostly used to automate
operations. It assists companies and small company owners in the creation, promotion, sale,
marketing, management, and scaling of their businesses
Examples:
• 1. Word Processor - Application for Writing and Editing Documents:
Word Processing, document writing, and editing software tools assist in the correct, timely, and
cost-effective creation of business documents, letters, applications, agreements, and reports.
• 2. Applications for Business Data Storage or Cloud Storage:
Data on customer product/service inquiries
Accounting information
Data on employee performance
Data from website analytics and reporting
Definition of system software
System software comes pre-installed on a computer and
cannot be changed. When most system software
applications are in use, users are rarely aware of them.
While this program is nearly always installed ahead of time.

System software, on the other hand, refers to the software


that maintains systems functioning, such as the operating
system, computational science software, game engines,
industrial automation.
Definition of ERP
Enterprise resource planning (ERP) is a management and
integration technique used by businesses to manage and integrate
the various aspects of their operations. Many ERP software
systems are beneficial to businesses because they assist them in
implementing resource planning by unifying all of the operations
required to manage their businesses into a single system. Planning,
purchasing, inventory, sales, marketing, finance, human resources,
and other functions can all be integrated with ERP software.

server through a network or the internet in this design.
