What is Multiplication?
• - Multiplication is repeated addition.
• - It helps us find the total of equal groups
faster.

• Example:
• 3 + 3 + 3 = 9 is the same as 3 × 3 = 9.
Parts of a Multiplication Sentence
• 1. Multiplier: How many groups?
• 2. Multiplicand: How many in each group?
• 3. Product: The total!

• Example:
• 3 × 4 = 12
• - 3: Number of groups
• - 4: Number in each group
• - 12: Total number
Why Do We Use Multiplication?
• - It’s quicker than adding the same number
many times.
• - Useful in everyday life, like counting candies,
toys, or chairs!
