Part of Speech:

Tenses
In English, tenses are essential for
understanding when actions occur. They
help us indicate if something happens
now, happened in the past, or will happen
in the future. In this presentation, we will
explore three main tenses: the simple
present, simple past, and future
tenses (using "will" and "going to").
1. Simple Present Tense

The simple present tense describes actions that


occur regularly, habitual actions, or facts that are
universally true.
Structure
• or most subjects: Subject + base form of the verb
• (e.g., "I walk," "They eat").
• For third-person singular subjects (he, she, it):
Subject + base form of the verb + "s" or "es"
• (e.g., "She walks," "He runs").
Usage
•The simple present is used to:

•Describe habits: Actions done regularly.

•State facts: Truths that are always valid.

•Express general truths: Widely accepted


statements.
