DUSTING
• BEFORE
• Explain the procedure to the patient (if
applicable).
• Gather necessary materials (damp cloth,
disinfectants, gloves, etc.).
• Ensure proper ventilation in the room.
• Remove any unnecessary items from
surfaces.
• Wash hands and wear appropriate personal
protective equipment (PPE).
NURSING RESPONSIBILITIES
• DURING
• Start from high surfaces and move
downward.
• Wipe frequently touched areas like
bedside tables, bed rails, and call buttons.
• Be gentle when cleaning around medical
equipment.
• Avoid disturbing the patient unnecessarily.
• Change cloths or disinfectant wipes as
needed to prevent contamination.
NURSING RESPONSIBILITIES
• AFTER
• Properly dispose of used cleaning
materials.
• Return items to their original places.
• Ensure all surfaces are dry and free from
streaks.
• Wash hands thoroughly after the
procedure.
• Document the cleaning process if
required.
EQUIPMENT’S
A tray with:
Laundry soap in dish
Dutch cleanser
Basin/Pail (filled with ½ water)
Big and small brushes
Brooms; mops
Newspaper to line table or chair
Fill the basin ½ full of water
and bring to theSTEPS
patient’s unit
• Dust the upper part gradually to the
bottom part.
