Creating 3-D model and making assembly
in 2 different software
Summery

• We will be creating 2 different 3-D model in 2 different software and making assembly
of it as a part of assignment 1.
• Software we are going to use are:-
1. CATIA V5
2. CREO Parametric

• First of all we will make 2, 3-D models and then assemble them.
• We are making universal coupling assembly
• Open CATIA V5
• Go to Start – Mechanical Design – Part Design
• Select YZ plane and edit
• Draw the following sketch
• It should be fully constrained as follows.
• Exit sketch and click on PAD.
• After clicking on pad select following options.
• Click on thick profile set thickness to 10 mm.
• Click on mirror extent.
• Click ok 3-D model will be created.
• Now click on XY plane and go to edit.
• Now create a circle of 25 mm diameter.
• Exit sketcher click on pad Length = 65 mm and click Ok.
• Now select 4 edges and give fillet click ok.
• Select 2 edges and click ok
• Click on side face and edit.
• Draw sketch as above.
• And exit sketcher.
• Click on Pocket and select up to last it will create pocket in it.
• Draw sketch in new part and pad by 100 mm.
• Now draw circle on side face of 35 mm diameter and pad by 5 mm.
• Now create same profile on XY plane and pad.

Now the profile will look like this.

• Now click on Start – Part design – assembly design.
• Now drag drop all parts in assembly.
• Now the final assembly will look like this.
Creo

1. Open Creo Parametric
2. Click on New – Part Design -- Ok
• Select an axis and click on
sketch
• Now draw same sketch and extrude.
• Click on solid – now give depth as 50mm –now we will give thickness to 10mm and click on Ok
• Give round to these 4 edges of 25 mm and click OK.
• Select highlighted edge and give round og 5 mm.
• Now click on selected surface and click on sketch.
• Draw following sketch.
• Click on Extrude – Remove material -- Ok
• Now click on bottom side of profile and click on sketch where we will draw one cylindrical sketch.
• Excrude sketch t 65 mm
• Draw sketch in new part and pad by 100 mm.
• Now draw circle on side face of 35 mm diameter and pad by 5 mm.
• Do the same on other plane too and extrude by 100 mm.
• Click on File – New – Assembly -- Ok
• Now click on assembly – and select models which you want to assemble.
• Now assemble the parts into assembly and it will look like following.
