come from various sources, including:
1. Users: typing, clicking, or speaking
2. Devices: scanners, cameras, or sensors
3. Other systems: network connections,
databases, or APIs (Application Programming
Interface)

CHARACTERISTICS OF INPUT
1. Accuracy: Input should be accurate and free
from errors.
2. Completeness: Input should be complete and
include all necessary information.
3. Consistency: Input should be consistent in
format and structure.
4. Timeliness: Input should be provided in a timely
manner to meet processing requirements.

3
INPUT DEVICES

Input devices are hardware components that allow

users to interact with a computer system and
provide input. Examples of input devices include:

POINTING DEVICES
1. Mouse: A device that moves the cursor on the
screen.
2. Trackball: A ball-based device that controls
cursor movement.
3. Touchpad: A flat surface that responds to touch
and gesture inputs.
4. Graphics Tablet: A device that allows users to
draw or write directly on the screen.

5
TEXT INPUT DEVICES
1. Keyboard: A typing device for entering text, numbers,
and commands.
2. Keypad: A smaller keyboard with limited keys, often used
for numerical input.
3. Scanner: A device that digitizes printed or handwritten
documents.

AUDIO INPUT DEVICES

2. Microphone: A device that captures audio input, such as
voice commands or recordings
2. Voice Recorder: A device that records audio input for
later playback.

6
VISUAL INPUT DEVICES

photos or videos.
2. Webcam: A camera connected to a computer for video
conferencing or online chat.
3. Barcode Reader: A device that scans and decodes
barcode labels.

GAME CONTROLLERS
2. Joystick: A device that controls game characters or
objects.
2. Gamepad: A handheld device with buttons and
directional pads for gaming.
3. Steering Wheel: A device that simulates driving in racing
games.
7
OTHER INPUT DEVICES
1.Biometric Devices: Devices that use unique
physical characteristics, such as fingerprints or
facial recognition, for authentication.
2. Motion Sensors: Devices that detect movement
or gestures, often used in gaming or interactive
applications.
3. Pressure Sensors: Devices that detect pressure
or force, often used in gaming or simulation
applications.
