What is Sports?
Sports are physical activities that involve skill, competition,
and often structured rules. They can be played individually
or in teams and are typically undertaken for recreation,
fitness, or professional purposes. Sports can encompass a
wide range of activities, including physical exertion (e.g.,
running, swimming), strategic gameplay (e.g., chess), and
motor skills (e.g., archery).

Early humans
The earliest humans engaged in physical
activities that we would now consider to be
Sports. These activities included running,
jumping, throwing and wrestling these
activities were not just for fun they also
served a practical purpose for example
running and jumping helped humans to
hunt and gather food while wrestling
helped them to defend themselves from
predators.

Ancient civilizations
As civilizations developed so too did Sports
The ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans all
had their own unique Sports. These Sports
included running jumping, Wrestling,
Boxing and Chariot racing. Sports were an
important part of these civilizations
cultures, they were often used to
celebrate religious festivals or to train
soldiers

Middle Ages
The Middle Ages was a time of great
change in sports. The introduction of
the horse collar and the Wheeled plow
made it possible to farm more land
and this led to an increase in leisure
time, this led to the development of
new sports such as jousting and
archery

The Renaissance was a time of renewed
interest in classical learning and this

Basketball is played between
two teams of five players each.
The objective is to score points
by shooting a ball through a
hoop 10 feet high. It involves
dribbling, passing, shooting, and
defending. The team with the
most points at the end of the
game wins.

Invasion Game Explanation: Soccer
is played between two teams of
eleven players. The objective is to
score goals by kicking or heading a
ball into the opposing team's net.
The only player allowed to use
their hands is the goalkeeper
within their penalty area. The team
with the most goals at the end of
the game wins.
Types of Sports
Badminton
is a racquet sport played using racquets
to hit a shuttlecock across a net. Although
it may be played with larger teams, the
most common forms of the game are
"singles" (with one player per side) and
"doubles" (with two players per side).
Badminton is often played as a casual
outdoor activity in a yard or on a beach;
professional games are played on a
rectangular indoor court. Points are scored
by striking the shuttlecock with the
racquet and landing it within the other
team's half of the court, within the set
boundaries.

Golf
Classification: Individual Sport,
Target Game Golf is played
individually or in small groups.
The objective is to complete a
course by hitting a ball into a
series of holes using various clubs
in the fewest number of strokes
possible. The player with the
lowest total score at the end of
the round wins.
