Showcase Day Powerpoint

Midhansh Navani, a Grade 10 student, undertook a project to create an automated watering system for potted plants using C++ coding and Arduino IDE. His learning goal was to gain knowledge in coding and hardware integration, which he achieved through research, critical thinking, and hands-on experience despite facing challenges. The project emphasized the importance of planning, technical accuracy, and problem-solving in engineering.

TAKEAWAYS FROM
LEARNING GOAL
I learnt a lot of new skills and applied various past existing knowledge in
completing my learning goal. Critical Thinking and Research were couple
of the ATL Skills I developed over the process of completing my learning
goal. I showcased my research while I was searching on for my learning
goal as well as using my learning goal to decide my product. Also,
watching videos on how to integrate and connect different materials
together was a way of representing my research skills. On the other
hand, my critical thinking skills were mainly applied when I was stuck on
a video and had trouble understanding it. Playing around with the
software made me think critically on what could be the possible solution
For me, I would say I was able to andachieve

parts where I felt that I did not have enough time to know everything about the language and I needed to
re-watch and re work more hands on playing around with the code. Overall, I achieved my learning goal
and developed new skills and knowledge through my experiences, failures and successes.
Based on my opinion, I had far more failures than
successes at the start of my learning goal but gradually as
I progressed, I started to grasp enough idea on the topic
that by the end of the whole journey, I had more successes
than failures. Majority of my successes include learning a
new skill and finding out solutions for any problems I faced
while learning the language such as debugging problems
and writing the correct code. For my failures, I was
struggling to even download and setup the software
because this was my first time actually doing some hands
on work related to coding.
TAKEAWAYS FROM

By far, building this hardware set up was super For my ATL Skills, I developed my

connecting the wires and materials than I had skills but of course I learnt more hands on skills

For my struggles, it was not related to the building skills by consulting my teachers, peers and

I was intrigued by my own process of building this
hardware setup. It was a lot of research and hands
on work on connecting the wires to the correct place
with the correct type of wire but as every coin has
two sides, the other side of it was being creative and
imaginative while making this. It was interesting to
build and I was invested while doing this. After this, I
learnt how the hardware machinery is made and how
much hard work and different systems are put in to
make something work.
