Situation/Problem/Opportunity:
Small businesses often face challenges in managing their
inventory efficiently, leading to issues such as
overstocking, stockouts, and lack of visibility into available
products. Without a proper system, they may struggle to
maintain records, track stock levels, and generate reports,
which can hinder operational efficiency and customer
satisfaction.

An inventory management system tailored for small


businesses can address these challenges by offering a
simple yet effective solution for monitoring and organizing
inventory data.

Purpose Statement (Goals):
This project aims to develop a user-friendly inventory
management system that:
- Enables businesses to add, update, and delete
product details (name, quantity, price).
- Provides real-time visibility into stock levels and
low-stock alerts.
- Offers functionality for exporting inventory data as
reports.
- Simplifies inventory tracking to reduce manual
errors and improve efficiency.

The system will cater specifically to the needs of


small businesses, ensuring it is cost-effective, easy
to use, and adaptable for various industries.

Objectives/Deliverables:

Deliverables for this project include:


- A desktop application built using Java Swing for a graphical
user interface (GUI).
- Integration with an SQLite database for secure data storage
and retrieval.
- Core features such as:
- Adding, updating, deleting, and searching inventory items.
- Low-stock notifications for efficient restocking.
- Generating and exporting inventory reports in CSV format.
- Comprehensive user documentation to guide businesses in
using the system effectively.
