Types of Sensors and Their
Applications PRESENTATION ON INDUSTRIAL AND TECHNOLOGICAL SENSORS
Student: Roberto Valverde Castro
What Are Sensors? • Devices that detect and respond to physical or chemical stimuli. • Convert these stimuli into electrical signals. • Widely used in industrial, technological, and consumer applications. Digital Sensors • Measure binary signals (0 or 1). • Examples: on/off switches, digital accelerometers. • Application: presence or absence detection. Accelerometer Sensors • Measure static and dynamic acceleration. • Applications: navigation, vibration and movement control. • Examples: sensors in smartphones, stability systems. Gyroscope Sensors • Measure angular velocity and orientation. • Use principles of angular momentum. • Applications: video games, camera stabilization, flight control. Temperature Sensors • Detect and measure temperature in solids, liquids, or gases. • Types: contact and non-contact sensors. • Applications: home appliances, heating systems, aeronautics. Vision and Imaging Sensors • Detect objects and colors within their field of view. • Convert images into digital signals. • Applications: quality control, object recognition, visual reconstruction. Radiation Sensors • Detect radiation like gamma rays and X-rays. • Applications: radiation protection, industrial measurements. Position Sensors • Detect the position of an object (linear, rotational, or angular). • Types: capacitive, inductive sensors. • Applications: displacement measurement, motor control systems. CONCLUSION Sensors are essential for monitoring and control in many industries. Each type of sensor has specific applications based on its characteristics. Technological advancements improve sensor precision and efficiency.
