INTRODUCTION
 Online Voting System is a web-based system that facilitates the running of elections and surveys
online

 Online Voting System provides the online registration form for the users before voting and makes
the users to cast their vote online.

 The system is to be developed with high security and user friendly.

ABSTRACT
We are developing an online voting system by taking advantage of the centralized database with
a web interface.

 The main concept o this project is to build a website, which should be able to cast their vote by
online.

 Time saving working load reduced ,information available at time and it provide security for the
data.

 During the blue-chip election of our college ,this technique finds its major use .
LITERATURE REVIEW
 An online voting system is a digital platform that enables voters to cast their votes electronically. It
typically features:

 - User registration and authentication

 - Candidate management
 - Secure voting process
 - Real-time results display
 - Voter verification and audit trails

5
Benefits include
- Increased voter turnout
- Improved accessibility
- Reduced costs and paper waste
- Faster results and improved accuracy

Security measures, such as encryption and secure servers, protect the integrity of the voting process. Online
voting systems can be used for elections, polls, and surveys, making the voting process more convenient and
efficient.

LIMITATIONS OF EXISTING SYSTEM
Existing voting systems, whether traditional or electronic, face several limitations:
1. Security Concerns
• Paper Voting: Vulnerable to tampering, fraud, and miscounting.
• Electronic Voting: Susceptible to hacking, data breaches, and malware attacks.

2. Accessibility
• Paper Voting: May be challenging for individuals with disabilities, requiring physical access to
polling stations.
• Electronic Voting: Digital divide can exclude those without internet access or technical skills.

3. Cost and Complexity

• Paper Voting: High costs associated with printing, transportation, and staffing of polling stations.
• Electronic Voting: Expensive infrastructure setup and maintenance; complex systems may require
extensive training.
4.. Accuracy and Reliability
• Paper Voting: Manual counting errors and delays in results reporting.
• Electronic Voting: Software glitches or hardware failures can lead to inaccuracies or lost
votes.

5. Voter Confidence
• Paper Voting: Issues with transparency and trust in the counting process.
• Electronic Voting: Concerns about the integrity of digital systems and potential for
manipulation.

6. Legal and Regulatory Challenges

• Paper Voting: Variability in standards and procedures across regions.
• Electronic Voting: Lack of uniform regulations and standards can lead to inconsistencies.
9
PROBLEM STATEMENT
 As information technology evolves over time ,the need for a better ,faster, more convenient and secure
online voting is essential requirement.

 The security is one of the main concerns ,such asauthentication, confidentiality ,integrity and non-
repetition. It is not an easy task to achieve secure e-voting.

CONCLUSION
 From the technical point of view ,it would be possible to implement an online voting system ,but there are
deficiencies in how the verifiability and the prevention of pressuring voters could be reconciled.
 This e-voting system is able to validate the voter’s identity well and prevent repeating the election.
 By using this electoral process ,the voting process will be much faster and safer.
 The voting process and the calculation of the number of votes will be faster because the voting process is
done in real-time.
