WHAT IS COMMUNICATION?
comes from a latin word
“communicare” which means to share .

Intrapersonal
communication means talking
to oneself. It is an activity
that takes place in our mind;
wherein a person involved in
conversation with
himself/herself. The sender
and the receiver are the same
INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION
Extended communication
involves the use of electronic media.
With the use of electronic media
messages are transmitted quickly.

2. INFORMAL
FORMAL STRUCTURE – allows
communication to take place via
designated channels of message flow
between positions in the organization .
This make use of four approaches:
1. Downward communication - upper to
lower positions.
It is communication
between or among
people having different
linguistic, religious,
ethnic, social, and
professional
backgrounds.
TYPES OF COMMUNICATION
ACCORDING TO PURPOSE AND STYLE
FORMAL COMMUNICATION
– employs formal
language delivered
orally or in written form.
Example: Lectures,
public talks/speeches,
research and project
proposals, reports, and
business letters.
INFORMAL COMMUNICATION
– It involves personal and ordinary
conversations with friends, family
members, or acquaintances about
anything under the sun.
Example: ordinary or everyday talks
and phone calls, or written as in the
case of e-mail messages, personal
notes, letters or text messages.
