Defination of Function:
A function is a relationship between two sets of values
where each input (from the first set) is assigned exactly
one output (from the second set).
How can we define function:

In the first image,here we can see that for each value of x we can get a different
value.So,we can sa that it’s a function.On the other hand from the second image we see
that for each value of x we can not get a different value.So,it’s not a function.
Algebric Function:

Polinomial Function:
Defination and Example of a
Polinimial Function:
A polynomial function is a function made by adding or
subtracting terms that have a variable raised to a whole
number power.

Examples:

1. f(x)=2x2+3x−5.
2. f(x)=x3−4x+7.
Rational Function:
.

A rational function is a type of

mathematical function that can be
expressed as the ratio of two polynomials.

The general function of rational function is:

f(x) = P(x)/Q(x)
Irrational Function:

An irrational function is a function

where the variable x is inside a square root,
cube root, or any other root.

The general form of an

irrational function is:
f(x) = √x
Or,
g(x) = √x + 1
Odd Function & Even
Function:
Odd Function:
An odd function is a function
where reversing the input
makes the output reverse its sign.

Example:
If,
f(x) = x^3
then
f (-x)^3 =-x^3
Even Function:
An even function is a function
where reversing the input
does not change the output.
The general form of
even function is
f(-x) = f(x)
Example:
If
f(x) = x^2
Then
f(-x) = (-x)^2
f(-x) = x^2
Composite Function:
A composite function is a function made by combining two
functions. The output of one function becomes the input of
another.

Generally there are 4 composite functions:

If f(x) & g(x) are the functions then,
1.fog = f(g(x))
2.gof = g(f(x))
3.fof = f(f(x))
4.gog = g(g(x))
Example:
If
f(x) = x^2 and
g(x) = x+3

The composite function (fog)(x) is:

f(g(x)) = f(x+3)
= (x + 3)^2

The composite function of (gof)(x) is:

g(f(x)) = g(x^2)
= (x^2 + 3)
Interval:
An interval is a
range of numbers
between two endpoints
on the number line.
Domain & Range of a Linear
Function:
Domain:The domain is all the possible x-values (inputs) you can put
into a function.
Range:The range is all the possible y-values (outputs) you get from
a function.

• y = x + 1; it is a linear function.
Here, we can see that for each value of x we can get a value of y.So,
Domain = ( -⚯ , ⚯)
Range = ( -⚯ , ⚯)
Domain & Range of a
Quadratic Function:
y = x^2 + 1;
Here, if x = 2 then y = 5
if x = -2 then y = 5
if x = 0 then y = 1
We can see that for any value of y we can get a output
and the output asways be in positive number.So,it can be
said about
Domain = ( -⚯ , ⚯)
Range = ( 1 , ⚯)
Presentation Outcomes:
1.We can define Function.

Conclusion:
To sum up, functions are essential components of mathematics, particularly
calculus. They act as a link between different mathematical ideas, allowing
us to efficiently simulate, examine, and resolve real-world issues. Functions
are essential to concepts like differentiation and integration, which are at
the heart of this subject, differential and integral calculus, because they
help us comprehend the relationships between variables.

As we explored:
*The definition and types of functions including polynomial,rational and
irrational.
*Important keyword and their application like domain,range etc.
*Composite function and the interval.
