8.square and Rectangle Report

The document outlines a lesson plan for teaching students about squares and rectangles, including definitions, differences from other shapes, and area calculations. It includes preliminary activities, examples, and evaluation exercises to ensure students can calculate the area of squares and rectangles. The lesson aims for 90% of students to achieve proficiency in these concepts by the end of the period.

PERFORM CALCULATION

Square and Rectangle

AT THE END OF THE PERIOD
THE 90% OF THE STUDENTS ARE
ABLE TO:

A. DEFINE SQUARE AND

RECTANGLE;
B. DIFFERENTIATE SQUARE
AND RECTANGLE FROM OTHER
SHAPES;
C. CALCULATE THE AREA OF
SQUARE AND RECTANGLE BASE
ON THE GIVEN DATA.

Materials/Equipment
needed:
PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES

 A. daily routine

1. Prayer
2.Checking of attendance

B. Motivation; “Classroom Observation”

In one minute write in your paper all

the things you have seen that is perfectly
rectangular and square in shape. The one
who write the most will be the winner and
shall receive a reward.
Activity
Direction: Using rectangular and square box, student will pass it
on to their class mates while singing when the
music stops whoever holds the box will describe the
object.

SAMPLES OF SQUARE AND RECTANGLE

ANALYSIS
 Based on the presentation what is square?
Rectangle?

 How does square and rectangle differ from

other shapes?

 Let say you bought a land with square and

rectangular shape, how would you calculate
its area?
 Square
 The lengths of all four sides are equal

and all four angles are right angles.

 Rectangle
 The length of the opposite sides are

equal and all four angles are right

angles.
ABSTRACTION
• A= length x width
• A= l x w

•Give one example on how to find the area of a

square and triangle. Provide more examples then
allow the students to compute and explain.
Calculate the surface area of square and rectangle

Given:
length= 4 cm
1. width = 4 cm
2 . Given
length = 5 cm
width= 5 cm

3. Given
length = 3 cm
width= 3 cm
4. Given
length= 9
width=5
5. Given
Length=12
Width=8
GENERALIZATION:

 The surface area of square or rectangle

is calculated using the formula:

 Area of square or rectangle=length x

width
IV. EVALUATION:
 Directions: Calculate the surface area of the
following square or rectangle
1. Given:
length=10m
width=10m

2. Given:
length = 12cm
width = 5 cm
height = 3 in
3.Given:
length = 12 cm
width = 8 cm

4.Given:
length = 6m
width= 6m
V. ASSIGNMENT
