WHAT IS COMPUTER VIRUS ?

• A computer virus is a program which is loaded onto


your computer without your knowledge it is a piece of code
which is capable of copying itself and typically has a detrimental
effect, such as corrupting the system or destroying data.

TROJAN HORSE

• A Trojan horse, often known as a Trojan, is a kind of malware


that is disguised as official software. Cyber-thieves and
hackers can use Trojans to obtain access to a user's computer
system.
WORMS

• A computer worm is a form of virus that replicates itself and


spreads it from one computer to another. A worm can
replicate itself without the need for human interaction, and it
doesn't need to be attached to a software application to
inflict harm.
ADWARE/
SPYWARE

Spyware is basically any technology that helps gather information about


a computer user without their knowledge. Adware is any software with
banner advertisements displayed while it is running.

BOOT SECTOR VIRUS

• A boot sector virus is a type of virus that infects the boot sector of
floppy disks or the Master Boot Record
PROGRAM FILE VIRUS

• Program file is a type of virus that typically attaches to executable


code, such as computer games and word processors. Once the virus
has infected a file, it can spread to other programs, and even into
other networks that utilize the infected files and programs.
MACRO VIRUS

• A macro virus is a computer virus written in the same macro language


as the software it infects — common victims include Microsoft Excel
and Word. Because they target software rather than systems, macro
viruses can infect any operating system.
POLYMORPHIC VIRUS

• Polymorphic viruses are complex file infectors that can create


modified versions of itself to avoid detection yet retain the same basic
routines after every infection
MULTIPARTITE VIRUS

• A multipartite virus is defined as a virus that infects your boot sector


as well as files. Boot Sector. The area of the hard drive that is
accessed when the computer is first turned on.
