QUESTIONS
FACTUAL QUESTION
What are the fundamental elements of game design?

• The fundamentals of game design are crucial to being able to make any
game. These fundamentals are mechanics, storytelling and visual to
create an engaging game for the audience. A good game would be
something that has fair mechanics making sure that there is a fair chance
for everyone, has an inciting storyline that is engaging to players and
visual that help the players to immerse in the game. Rewards help players
to remain active players and cling on to the game being able to get special
skins/ outfits to stand out from their peers. These are some fundamentals
of game design and one feature applicable in a game development
situation.
CONCEPTUAL QUESTION
How can we create a game that is both entertaining and educational?

• To make a game that is a mix of entertainment and education, the way it's
designed and the design intention, meaning the theme of the game is very
important. To make the game educational, the subject of the game must
be an academic subject like science or English. If the game is created with
the intent of helping students to excel in a particular concept/ subject,
then it is called an educational game. The part where we can make it
entertaining comes in the design process, making sure our game is both
engaging and can keep students hooked on is the goal of our design. This
can help student gain more knowledge even without realising that they
are learning via a fun and entertaining game.
DEBATABLE QUESTION
To what extent does game design impact the player's experience?

• Game design is a big aspect in how the game is viewed by the audience,
affecting people’s views and experiences for the better and helping to
claim a more complete gaming experience. Currently, games like
Hogwarts legacy, Fortnite, and Spiderman 2 have their own way of
capturing audiences by either making a giant map allowing for open world
gaming and vast exploration complimented by the story encouraging you
to visit faraway places from the base location or maybe a competitive
shooter with building and editing mechanics that has an everchanging
map and a nomadic playstyle. These games, Hogwarts legacy and
Fortnite, both have different design intentions, one to help the fans of a
series enjoying the true experience of their heroes and the other to
provide a fun and competitive game to enjoy. Though designed
differently , their game design definitely helps to enrich the gaming
experience.

THE NEED
The problem is that the school has tasked us with creating an educational game
to make learning fun and interactive for learners. We will choose a subject, based
on our clients' interests, to design a game that is both engaging and easy for
them to understand and enjoy. This problem takes place in our school where
people get high and low marks. This solution is for the people who still need help
improving their marks while enjoying entertainment and disguising learning so
that they learn without realizing it. The audience is 9 - 14-year-old students who
need a game to help strengthen their concepts in science, Thus the school asking
us to make a game to suite the need. Video games can keep people not only
entertained but can have several positive effects. In a study covered in
theesa.com’s article, 73% of global players agree that video games can improve
creativity, 69% agree that it can build problem solving, Thinking, teamwork and
collaboration skills. Aligning with our SOI, We will make an engaging, high-end
game that can help children learn to strengthen their concepts as well as their
situational, critical and quick-thinking skills , developing an engaging game
mechanic improving our creative thinking technical skills and a screen time limit
to the game that can enhance children engagement and interaction while
