Activity 2: Picture Analysis

Do you have any idea who is the man in


the picture?
Sigmund Freud, an Austrian
neurologist born in 1856, is
often referred to as the “Father
of modern Psychology.” Freud
revolutionized how we think
about and treat mental health
conditions. Freud founded
psychoanalysis as a way of
listening to patients and better
understanding how their minds
work.

The Three Personality Structure
according to Sigmund Freud:
concerned only with satisfying personal
1. Id - desires;
representing the biological founddations of
personality; id is based on the pleasure
principle (motivate the organism to seek
pleasure.)olves changing ideas about oneself
and one’s place in the world.
2. Ego - the “executive”; the mediate / balance the
demands of the Id and the outer forces of reality; the center
of reason, reality-testing, and common sense; and govened
by the reality Principle.
3. Superego - the “ideal”; consequence of the oedipal
drama (sexual desire {child} toward the parent of the
opposite sex-jealous feelings {child} toward the parent of the
same sex); the moral arm of the personality, it corresponds
to one’s conscience; bids the psychic apparatus to pursue
idealistic goals and perfection.
Activity 3.Group activity
Class I am going to divide you into two groups.
Group 1- Role play about how different characters
might react to the scenario id, ego and superego,
considering your potential underlying motivations
base on your past experiences regarding to our
topic psychoanalysis concepts.

Group 2- Make Venn Diagram with three circles


labeled id, ego, and superego. List characterisctics
or behaviors that would fall each category base on
your own experiences.
