• According to John Dewey, “We don’t learn
from experience. We learn from reflecting
on experience”. Teaching is a process in
which teacher teaches student. Teaching
is considered as the act of communicating
instructions to the students in the
classroom.

• Teaching is an intimate contact between the
more mature personality and a less mature

• Any activity can be called learning so far as it
develops the individual & makes his/her
behavior & experiences different from what that
would otherwise have been.

NATURE OF LEARNING

• Behaviorist view: Learning is a change in behavior as a


result of experience. Men & other living being react to
the environment.
• Gestalt view: Learning depends on gestalt or
configuration (wholeness of the situation). Learning is a
total reaction to the total situation.
• Hormic view: It stresses on the purposeful nature of
learning, i.e. learning is a goal-directed activity.
He conducted many experiments on
Trail & error viewdogs, cats & fish & concluded that most
learning by trial & error.
