Daya Analysis

The document discusses data analysis, defining it as the process of organizing and summarizing data to answer research questions. It outlines the purpose of data analysis, types including descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analysis, and the main functions of analyzing data. Additionally, it covers statistical calculations, distinguishing between descriptive and inferential statistics, and includes techniques such as hypothesis testing and regression analysis.

DATA ANALYSIS

 ANALYSIS:
Analysis means the ordering, manipulating and summarizing the data
to obtain answers to research questions.
 DATA ANALYSIS
Data analysis is a method of putting facts and figures to solve the
research problem. Data analysis refers to the technique of collecting
raw data, analyzing it and transforming it into information that can be
used to reach a specific conclusion
PURPOSE

 The purpose of data

analysis is to answer the
research questions and to
help determine the trends
and relationships among the
variables.
Types of Data Analysis

 Descriptive Analysis: Summarizes data.

 Diagnostic Analysis: Explains why things happened.
 Predictive Analysis: Forecasts future trends.
 Prescriptive Analysis: Suggests actions based on predictions.
Functions:

 The following are the main functions of data analysis:

 The researcher should analyze the available data for examining the
statement of the problem.
 The researcher should analyze the available data for examining each
hypothesis of the problem.
 The researcher should study the original records of the data before data
analysis.
 The researcher should analyze the data for thinking about the research
problem in lay man’s term.
 The researcher should analyze the data by attacking it through statistical
calculations.
Statistical Calculations:
The researcher will have to use either descriptive statistics or
inferential statistics for the purpose of the analysis.
 Descriptive statistics
Descriptive statistics summarize and describe the main features of a
dataset.
It provides simple summaries about the data and visualizations such as
graphs and charts.
Measures in Descriptive Statistics
 Measures of Central Tendency:
Mean (Average)
Median (Middle Value)
Mode (Most Frequent Value)

 Measures of Dispersion:
Range (Difference between max and min)
Variance (Spread of data points)
Standard Deviation (Average deviation from the mean)

 Shape of Data Distribution:

Skewness
Kurtosis
Inferential Statistics

 Inferential statistics make predictions or inferences about a

population based on a sample of data.
 It uses probabilistic methods to generalize findings from the sample
to the entire population.
Techniques in Inferential Statistics
 Hypothesis Testing:
Null Hypothesis (H0): No effect or difference.
Alternative Hypothesis (H1): Effect or difference exists.
 Confidence Intervals:
Range of values that likely contain the population parameter.
 Regression Analysis:
Relationship between dependent and independent variables.
 ANOVA (Analysis of Variance):
Tests differences between group means.
